We traveled a lot, completely avoiding the city center. Did some clubbing, then some working, then some more clubbing. Enjoyed Berlin?s finest Turkish cuisine and hated the fine we got while riding the Ubahn (Sbahn was safer). Then we got back in Bucharest and finally managed to get some sleep. Mittlerweile hat es sich wohl nicht nur in den Kreisen der Avantgarde-Elektroniker, sondern auch bis zu jenen, die gern einfach mal so in den Club gehen, um einen schönen Abend zu verleben, herumgesprochen: Neben Minimal, TechHouse, Dubstep ist es insbesondere die sog. “Intelligent Dance Music”, die den richtig frischen Wind bringt…

Auf solche konzentriert ist das Netlabel CRAZY LANGUAGE, dessen primäre Intention es ist, neue und intelligente Tanzmusik und futuristisch strukturierte Tracks sowie wunderschön klingende ambienthafte Epen bis hin zu kratzigen 8-Bit-Sounds und Glitch digital zu veröffentlichen. Und all das wird auch noch zum kostenlosen Download angeboten.

Das Label entstand aus der spontanen Idee eine Plattform für die Musik befreundeter Künstler einzurichten, die sich mit alternativer Klubmusik, Ambient und Eletronica beschäftigen und ist mittlerweile ein Netzwerk geworden, das internationale High-Tech Musiker und visuelle Künstler verknüpft, einen kreativen Austausch bietet und darüber hinaus auch für die Berliner Elektronikkultur ein (Under)Statement fixiert.

Bei der Crazy Language Labelnacht am 31.03. in der Berghain Kantine präsentiert das Netlabel im Rahmen von KILLEKILL eine feine Auswahl seiner aus Europa stammenden Artists, die in seinem nunmehr 4jährigen Bestehen wegweisende Veröffentlichungen erreichten. Ein besonderer Abend mit Videoprojektion und erstaunlich einnehmendem Sound für Hirn, Herz und Beine.

Anfangs wird es einige Kurzfilme und Musikvideos auf der Großbildleinwand geben, um den musikalischen Abend schon mal gemütlich einzuleiten.

Rec_Overflow ist bekannt für Hip Hop influenced IDM/Electronica, die auch in die Beine geht und man hat Spaß, ihm bei seinem Liveset zuzusehen. Er ist immer gut drin in der Musik.

Atmogat sollten zumindest einigen bekannt sein. In Berlin haben sie schon einige Partys bespielt und werden für etwas düsteren minimalen Electronica Sound sorgen, der nicht nur die Synapsen stimuliert.

Jfrank’s Musik lässt sich nicht in ein Genre stecken. Es geht mal durch ein paar Breaks und dann wieder gerade technoide Rhythmen, die von glitchigen und manchmal acidlastigen Sounds umgeben werden. Da ist auf jeden Fall Abfahrt angesagt!

XZICD ist musikalisch auch sehr vielseitig, wie seine Releases auf Crazy Language zeigen. Für diesen Abend bereitet er ein spezielles Set vor, in dem es eine kleine Vorschau auf sein kommendes Album geben wird, welches back to the roots IDM mit klassischen Synths und modernen Drum Patterns verbindet.

Die beiden Netlabel Gründer Shrotty (Huron) und Weedbeat (Axiom) werden ihre Platten mitbringen und bunt gemischte elektronische Musik wie IDM, Electronica, Electro, Dubstep … spielen.

Und weil das Auge auch mithört, haben wir noch 2 Spezialisten – Sarge GrafX und Lasal – die die Berghain Kantine in ein passendes visuelles Bild setzen. Ihr dürft gespannt sein!

EEG pres. Netaudio Broken Beats

Im September 2009 veranstaltete die Essential Existence Gallery @ Westwerk, kurz EEG, die erste Netaudio Nacht in Leipzig. Auf einer Podiumsdiskussion wurde das Thema Creative Commons von drei Referenten behandelt, die Vor- und Nachteile erläutert, diskutiert und ein Blick in die Zukunft gewagt. Danach stellten diverse Künstler ihr musikalisches Repertoire aus verschiedenen musikalischen Bereichen der Netlabels auf 2 Floors vor.

Am 27. März ist nun wieder Westpaket in Plagwitz und die EEG nimmt dies und die erfolgreiche erste Ausgabe der Netaudio Nacht zum Anlass, um die Reihe fortzusetzen. Die zweite Ausgabe wird komplett den Broken Beats gewidmet und dazu wurden Künstler aus Berlin, Rostock, Chemnitz und Leipzig verpflichtet. Die Chemnitzer lax-o-mat konnten bereits bei der ersten Ausgabe mit einem fullminanten Live-Act in Bademänteln überzeugen und sind somit auch gleich wieder mit von der Partie. Ihr Sound kann man als experimentelle Broken Beats zwischen Dubstep, Techno, Industrial und Drum & Bass beschreiben. Die BPM-Zahl ist für sie marginal, es kommt ihnen auf die Sounds an, welche sie bereits auf dem Leipziger Netlabel Moods Plateau veröffentlicht haben.

Der Rostocker micronaut ist nicht nur unter dem Pseudonym Sterngucker als DnB-DJ aktiv, sondern schraubt eben auch experimentelle Live-Acts, die neben den abstrakten Beats von viel Flächen aber auch von viel Knarz leben. Seine Tracks veröffentlicht er auf dem Netlabel No Response.

Flowpro aus Berlin repräsentiert das Netlabel Plainaudio, auf dem so namhafte Künstler, wie Martsman oder Macc vornehmlich DnB der Spielart Drumfunk veröffentlichen. Als DJ hat er schon mit den namhaftesten Künstlern der DnB-Szene und in zig Clubs aufgelegt. An Erfahrung mangelt es ihm jedenfalls nicht.

Die beiden Leipziger Wintermute und audite runden den Abend musikalisch ab. Wintermute veröffentlicht seine Tracks auf dem Netlabel digitalGEWITTER und hat damit 2009 nicht nur Leipzig, sondern die ganze DnB- und Dubstepszene bereichert. audite, Boundless Beatz Aktivist und Mitveranstalter der Netaudio-Nächte, lässt es sich diesmal nicht nehmen sein eigenes Repertoire aus diversen DnB und Dubstep Netlabels vorzustellen.

Die DJs werden von zwei VJs unterstützt, die mit audioreaktiven Live-Visuals die Gäste zusätzlich in ihren Bann ziehen werden.
Da das Thema ja Netaudio ist, wird der komplette Abend natürlich vom lokalen Internetradio www.mottt.fm ins World Wide Web übertragen.

Hi Folks,

the Barcelona-Berlin netlabel música vermella has announced three days of condensed netlabel activity @ Rauchhaus – a former squat and now alternative housing project in Berlin Kreuzberg. On Thursday 11-02 at 19h there will be a Dubstep Masterclass, Friday 20-02 a circuit bending workshop (same time).

On Saturday a netlabel meeting is announced to connect the Berlin netlabels, to discuss strategies of common promotion, the setup of a new event series (after the first and very successful netlag party circus…) and think about future forms of co-operation. Netaudio Berlin will be attending and not only support this event but also introduce some further netaudio persectives for 2010.

Excellent start for the netaudio movement in 2010! After the announcement of the Netaudio Festival in Lisbon end of the year another European country launnched its platform: netaudio.fr is now supporting the netaudio affairs in France! After Netaudio London and Netaudio Berlin, the Spanish netaudio.es, nettare in Italy, Netaudio Russia resp. Moscow and Netaudio Poland two more initiatives will now extend the European network of netaudio groups.

Netaudio France is initially driven by the country’s most active netlabel Fresh Poulp Records. Geoffrey Marchand, labelhead and event organizor gave the initial impulses for the new forum. His label has been focussing on Dub, Oriental Grooves, Hiphop, Dubstep, Downbeat and Fusion sounds. Amongst their artists are names like Normaa, Roots Ista Posse, I-Massive, Rafiralfiro, Dubosmium and many more excellent musicians.

Until now, three more acteurs joined the platform: Al Dente Rec., a techno and minimal (and a little dub influenced) label promoting artists like Eggbox, Tsunami Wazahari, Focus, Funkatone, Blair’Baxter and more.

AntiBlues is concentrating on HipHop, Ambient and Electro, featuring artists like Volfoniq, Aide auditive, Altf4, Autoctone, Vernon Lenoir and others. Finally, netaudio.fr today announces their fourth partner joining the platform: Original Dub Gathering, a French netlabel strictly dedicated to Dub! Releases from Ondubground, Vlastur, U Stone, Dawa HiFi, Panda Dub and more.

Hopefully, more French netlabels will join this promising network to even increase the dynamic development of the free music scene in France. Doubtless it has loads of excellent tunes to spread – so give netaudio.fr a try!

Netaudio Berlin bietet im Rahmen der “Alltogethernow” – a2n eine Diskussionsveranstaltung zum Thema “Netlables als wesentlicher Bausteine der Independent Musikszene” an. Denn nachdem in den 1990er Jahren die Independent Musikverlage und ?label mehr und mehr von den Verlagsriesen der Branche arborbiert und bestenfalls als Sublabel überleben konnten, breiten sich seitdem eine wachsende Zahl an Netlabels in dem Vakuum aus. Individuell geführt und eher an neuen, ungewöhnlichen Sounds als am bestehenden Massengeschmack des Mainstreams orientiert bieten Netlabel einerseits all jenes, was die Independent Vinyl- oder CD Label d er 1980er und 199er attraktiv gemacht hat. Indem Netlabel derzeit i.d.R. nicht auf finanziellen Gewinn ausgerichtet sind, bieten sie andererseits extrem wenig Argumente für ihre Absorption durch die großen Majors. Im Schlepptau der non-kommerziellen Label entwickeln sich zudem in jüngster Zeit auch neue Formen und Strukturen, die den kostenfreien Rahmen verlassen und alternative Bezahlmodelle ? von Mikropayment über hybrides Cross-Selling, temporäre Kostenpflicht bis hin zu Zahlungen auf freiwilliger Basis anwenden. Welche Potenziale bieten Netlabel für eine zukünftige Independent-Labellandschaft jenseits von Selbstausbeutung und diesseits von Integrationsinteressen der Major Companies? Welche Strukturen entwickeln sich ? oder haben sich bis dato noch nicht entwickelt, wären aber wünschenswert ? oder gar notwendig für eine vielfältige und chancenreiche Indie-Musikkultur?

From the 8th to the 11th of October 2009, we are again gathering the international netaudio community for a 4 day festival and conference in Berlin. The event will take place at Maria, a venue which is situated immediately on the former Berlin Death Strip ? which once divided the city and the world into eastern and western hemispheres. These days have long past ? but the 20th anniversary of the tear-down of the wall recalls pictures of helping hands reaching out to pull people from both sides up on the wall. We saw dancing people on top of the then useless scarf of concrete ? and felt the beginning of a new historic chapter, visualized by the reunification of the two German states. In 2009 we will pick up the spirit of those days and invite many hands and minds from all over Europe ? and beyond ? to find out more about the needs and possibilities, challenges and chances of netaudio under the various cultural frameworks in East- and West-European countries.

As a first step you are kindly requested to fill in the Call for Entries-Form. You will be asked to give specific information about yourself, your project and your proposal. If you?re heading for involvement within the musical program we ask you to upload demo-sets (no netlabel releases!) to our soundcloud-dropbox. If you don?t know how to handle Soundcloud ? don?t worry ? it?s very simple! The sets must not be older than six months. Also we ask you for your possibilities to save some money by using personal connections (transport, accommodation etc.). It might also be helpful for a decision.

The call for entries ends at Sunday 31st of May 2009. We than take down the form and finalize the program with the help of your inputs. We will get in contact with you latest by the end of June. We are looking forward to a strong number of queries and hope we can invite you as a participant of Netaudio Festival Berlin 2009! See you all there!
